Making trade finance assets a more attractive investment
Following the success of the Trade Treasury Payments x Sullivan Breakfast Club in July, our next invitation-only roundtable will examine what it takes to scale trade finance as an institutional asset class. Held under the Chatham House Rule, the breakfast session will convene senior representatives from banking, non-bank finance, underwriting, and legal practice to interrogate the regulatory, structural, and technological dynamics shaping the market’s evolution.
Discussions will test the investability thesis in detail: short-tenor, self-liquidating instruments with consistently low default experience; the role of insurance and securitisation in creating capital-efficient, rated exposures; and the emergence of credible secondary markets. The session will map a trajectory for trade finance to move beyond its historical characterisation as a niche credit product and establish itself as a standardised, benchmarked component of mainstream institutional portfolios.
